Mike Canterbury/Drums/Vocals
Mike Canterbury was raised in rural Southwestern
Colorado. Music became a major part of Mike’s life at young age as
his parents took him along to local Grange Hall dances. Picking up the Fender
Bass guitar at age 13, Mike was already becoming a fixture in local clubs as
his parents and grandfather would escort him to gigs. Playing with seasoned
musicians early on gave Mike a great foundation to build on. Early influences
include Merle Haggard and Buck Owens but there is a long list of artists who
have inspired him to play music throughout his lifetime. After adding the drums
to his arsenal of musical skills in his
late teens, he continued to be in demand as a player in the region. Mike joined
the High Rollers in 1995 and has remained a pivotal part of the band’s energy
and drive. Mike’s passion in this life is his wonderful relationship with wife
Jan, their three daughters, and their grandchildren.

Jeff Johnson/Fiddle/Guitar/Banjo/Vocals
Born and Raised in Oklahoma City, Jeff Johnson entered this world into a musical family. His parents Johnny and Diana are accomplished musicians and provided a remarkable amount of influence on his love of music. While being nurtured on the great sounds of his father’s Rock/R&B band in OKC (The Full Flavor), Jeff’s ear turned primarily to various genres of country music, a style in which lead to him picking up the banjo and fiddle in his teen years. High School found Jeff in Southern California when his folks and sister Jennifer loaded up and headed west (in true Okie style) for greater opportunities. The musical friendships he created from those days resulted in a broader appreciation of styles, of which he has incorporated into various music ventures over the years. Jeff has known Andy, Garrett and Mike for many years after moving to Southern Colorado in the eighties. After some travels around the west, he returned to Colorado in 2005 and was fortunate to have been invited to join his friends for a re-vamped edition of the High Rollers. The resulting music has been (to quote Jeff) "an extremely rewarding association with wonderful band mates and quality music, and it has only started!”
| Garrett Valencia/Lead Guitar/Vocals | ||
Born and raised in Ignacio Colorado,
it was apparent early on that Garrett had a passion for music. His dad often
reminds him of when he used to sing along with Freddy Fender eight tracks into
a vacuum wand. As long as he can remember he was around music. His father and
uncles would get together periodically to play guitars and sing traditional
Spanish songs. In junior high school, Garrett joined the concert and marching
bands where he played trumpet and percussion. In high school he joined a band
with a group of friends, playing at the local bars in Ignacio. While cutting
his teeth on New Mexico style
Spanish music, it wasn't long before the venues for Spanish music were becoming
few and far between. Garrett eventually got into Country and Rock music in
order to play more often. Garrett credits Al Hurricane as his greatest
influence however he regularly listens to numerous artists such as Restless
Heart, The Eagles, Brad Paisley and occasionally could be caught listening to
an 80's hair band or two.

| Andy Janowsky/Bass Guitar/Vocals | ||
Andy Janowsky was also
raised in a
musical family. Since early childhood he would join in with family
members who regularly got together to sing with everyone attempting
to add a different harmony part. By the time he was in grade school
he sang in a trio with his older brother and sister in their small,
country church where his father was the minister. Andy picked up
bass guitar in his late teens and joined up with his older brother
and father in a Western trio they called the Nighthawks. After
graduating from Fort Lewis College in Durango he put his degree to
use by joining a band called Highway Robbery, playing full time and
traveling throughout the region. This eventually led him to start
the band the High Rollers in 1994. Andy also writes songs and has
four self-produced CDs. His musical influences include
singer/songwriters such as Michael Martin Murphy, Steve Earle, Mike
Reid, Paul Overstreet, Merle Haggard, Bob Seger, Hank Williams Jr.,
etc. |
